[GVCP] 50 activists and no rain! GVCP Tax Day Rally 04-19-17

April 19, 2017

Dear Friends,

When GVCP holds a Tax-Day event, we do it right!  Despite threats of rain, 50 people participated.  (That’s quite a crowd for our rural village.)  We had postcards to send to Rep. Collins:  The costs of one F-35 jet would fund PBS for 159 years.  Also, flyers with a discretionary spending “pie-chart” to distribute to passersby.   A petition calling for Rep. Collins to (1) meet with us and (2) reduce the bloated military budget.

As you can see, we had a strong turnout from our student sister school, Geneseo Peace Action.  They brought “Peace Demands Action” buttons, and great signs.  Many of the participants are from a new peace group called C-27.  (Our district is NY27.)  They have been turning out every Tuesday morning since the Inauguration.  Many of our members participate in their rallies, and they participated in our rally.

Special credit to Jim Allen and Susan Bailey, who organized the event.  To Suzanne Blackburn and Tera Yarowsky, who made the great signs, and to Gayle Mosher, who captured the event in these great photos.

Next GVCP meeting is Sunday, April 23rd, 1:00 PM at the Goodwill Community Center on South Street (Route 20A, Geneseo.)

Peace,

Arnie Matlin for GVCP
