[GVCP] “On the Side of the Road” Newton 201, Thursday, March 3rd 7:00 PM

February 23, 2016
On the Side of the Road is a documentary about the Arab-Israeli conflict.  As you see from the attached poster, it’s a film directed by former West Bank settler Lia Tarachansky.  The documentary shows us the “collective amnesia” of Israelis to the events of the 1948 war.  It also demonstrates that even Palestinians who are Israeli citizens are treated as second-class citizens.  Palestinians who live in conquered territories fare far worse.

The film will be introduced by one of our expert guest speakers, Elaine Johnson or Dr. Theodore Brown.
Both will be present for Q&A after the film is over.

The film is sponsored by Geneseo Peace Action, a formally recognized student group at SUNY Geneseo.  GVCP is co-sponsoring this event.

It’s important that GVCP members support this important endeavor by attending the screening.  To my knowledge, this is the first time that a film about the Israeli/Palestinian relationship has been shown in Geneseo.  (The movie was shown at the Islamic Center in Rochester last year.)

This is not a film to miss because you’re tired, or it looks like snow, or you’re crazy-busy.  This is the film to attend!

Peace,

Arnie Matlin for GVCP
