[GVCP] H/N vigil on August 8th

August 10, 2017
Dear GVCP Member,

Here’s a photo by Judi Salzburg Taylor or Antonia Taylor that captures both the excitement and the solemnity of our 42nd consecutive Annual Hiroshima/Nagasaki Vigil.  Many people said it was the best vigil ever.  Certainly, the weather was perfect, but, more important, the number of peace activists was about 55, which is really impressive for a rural group like GVCP.  We were bolstered by people coming from Rochester, Fairport, Rush, Bloomfield, Pittsford, etc.

We also obtained 40 signatures on the petition calling for a prohibition of nuclear weapons.  Especially now, GVCP’s emphasis on preventing nuclear war is extraordinarily important.  It’s literally a matter of life and death.

Don’t forget to come to GVCP’s 45th anniversary event, on the International Day of Peace, September 21st, 4:00 PM at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Geneseo.

Peace,

Arnie Matlin for GVCP
