This Month’s Calls and Letters: President Trump would like to start a war! Everyone knows that President Trump’s popularity has been going down steadily. One way for a president to regain popularity is to start a war. At that point, we’re told, “We all have to unite behind the President to support him and our country. Tie yellow ribbons around trees and get ‘Support Our Troops’ signs for your car and lawn.” Trump has said, “North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States. They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen.” Essentially, he’s threatening nuclear war. The mainstream media have reported Trump’s comments, but the coverage is minimal. I think the headlines should be screaming, “Trump threatens nuclear war.” We see that kind of headline in the progressive media, but nowhere else. From Credo Action, here’s a petition that already has almost a quarter of a million signatures, and needs more: “Stop Trump from Starting a Nuclear War.”

From Ann Wright at Codepink: “Tell Trump: Don’t provoke a war with North Korea. Negotiate, don’t escalate. Send Secretary Tillerson to North Korea for Peace Talks.” The White House comment line is: 202-456-1111. In the past, the operators have been very courteous. I don’t know how they will respond to a call now. Let’s all find out!
