Dear GVCP Member,
Many progressive news outlets are predicting that President Trump will “fire” Special Counsel Robert Mueller. The predicted date is this Friday, December 22nd. Here’s a link to a consortium of groups called “Trump Is Not Above The Law”:
This consortium is calling for nationwide protests in the event that this firing takes place. Events are already scheduled for Batavia, Canandaigua, and Rochester. The times and rules of the event are below.
Do we want to commit GVCP to organize and carry out an event? I’ve in touch with Jill Gruber of C27. She, herself, doesn’t want to organize an event. However, she will be happy to announce our event to people on the C27 list. (There’s quite a bit of overlap, but not 100%.)
If we want to participate, we have to decide now. I’m happy to be listed as the organizer, but I don’t want to be on Main Street, Geneseo (or, for that matter, the Avon Traffic Circle) standing alone with a sign. No one wants to be out in the street for a protest on Friday evening or noon on Saturday. However, if we need to be there, I think we should be there.
Please send me your thoughts today (Tuesday, December 19th). On the morning of Wednesday, December 20th, GVCP will either sign up or we won’t.

Rallies will begin hours after news breaks of a Mueller firing:
If Mueller is fired BEFORE 2 P.M. local time —> events will begin at 5 P.M. local time
If Mueller is fired AFTER 2 P.M. local time —> events will begin at Noon local time the following day
This is the general plan—please confirm details on your event page, as individual hosts may tailor their events to their local plan.
This is our moment to stand up to protect our democracy. Let’s mobilize to show that we won’t let Donald Trump become the authoritarian that he aspires to be. The law applies to all of us, and it’s essential that it also applies to the most powerful people in our country.
