Dear GVCP Member,

No GVCP meeting in May, because we put our energies into the Peace Poetry Awards.

Next GVCP MEETING is Sunday, June 23rd, 1:00 PM (lunch) 1:30 PM (meeting).  Mae’s Restaurant, 4182 Lakeville Road (Route 20A) Geneseo.  All welcome.

Good luck to graduating seniors of our student sister group, Geneseo Peace Action.

Hank Stone’s bumper sticker event on May 11th was a great success.  We added 32 new members onto our mailing list!  (The mailing list is now over 300 people.)

We sadly announce the death of Sally Raschi, a longtime member of GVCP.

This month’s action:

Here’s a link to a petition calling on Congress to allow Robert Mueller to testify about everything he found in his two-year investigation of Russian interference in the U.S. elections.

As President Trump and his hand-picked Attorney General William Barr mislead and deceive the public about the Mueller report, we must remain committed to uncovering the truth. Special Counsel Robert Mueller deserves the opportunity to publicly testify before Congress — and speak directly to the American people about what he discovered.

The very moment that Special Counsel Mueller wrapped up his 2-year investigation into Russian election interference and potential obstruction of justice — which yielded 37 indictments and guilty pleas — Donald Trump started falsely claiming that he was completely exonerated.

He is wrong. And now, he’s trying to stop Mueller from publicly testifying before Congress and setting the record straight — and claiming executive privilege over the report’s findings in an effort to keep them from public view.

Mueller found 10 potential episodes of obstruction of justice by Trump — and left it to Congress to further investigate them. We need a full and thorough inquiry to determine exactly what happened — and whether Trump abused the office of the presidency to cover for himself or his associates.

Anything less is an affront to our democracy. We the People deserve transparency and accountability — and it starts with hearing from Mueller himself.

Trump and his cronies have repeatedly attempted to derail Mueller’s investigation and make sure his findings don’t see the light of day — but together, we were able to stand in defense of the rule of law and ensure Mueller could complete his investigation. Now, it’s time for the American people to hear from Mueller in public testimony and uncover the whole truth — whether Trump likes it or not.  (Modified slightly from Common Cause)
