Dear GVCP member,
The August 6th annual Hiroshima/Nagasaki vigil was a highlight in GVCP’s 45 years of vigils.
More than 60 people attended.
This is definitely the highest number for the H/N vigil in our history.GVCP members—some of whom came from 50 miles away—were joined by a large contingent from Rochester Chapter 23 Veterans for Peace. The Raging Grannies attended and performed. Some village members saw us and joined us. We had a contingent from the student group, Geneseo Peace Action. There was candle lighting and singing. People who attended ranged from pre-teens and teenagers to the elderly.
GVCP was founded in 1972. 47 years later, we are still going strong. If you’re not active yet, please get started by attending the next GVCP meeting on August 25th.
GVCP is needed now more than ever!
Peace,
Arnie Matlin for GVCP
