Dear GVCP Member,
Next GVCP MEETING is Sunday, October 27th, 1:00 PM (lunch) 1:30 PM (meeting).  Mae’s Restaurant, 4182 Lakeville Road (Route 20A), Geneseo.  All welcome.
This month’s letter:
Don’t offer up the Kurds as gift to Turkey!  President Trump’s plan to withdraw troops from northeast Syria welcomes the Turks to attack the Kurds, our former allies against ISIS.  Even hard-line hawk Republicans are appalled: Mitch McConnell wrote, “A precipitous withdrawal of U.S. forces from Syria would only benefit Russia, Iran, and the Assad regime . . . it would increase the risk that ISIS and other terrorist groups regroup.”  I would add that it also risks starting WW III, as Russian troops move into the area.  We should write to Republican Senate leaders, asking them to restrain the President.  Write to Republican leaders telling them that they must push back against Trump on this important and dangerous matter. Suggested Senators: Mitch McConnell, Pat Toomey, Lindsey Graham, and Mitt Romney.  Postal address: U.S. Senate, Washington DC, 20510.  Also write to Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer.  Gillibrand and Schumer will accept email messages on their websites.  If you’re in Joe Morelle’s district, write to him as well.  (We in the 27th district don’t have a representative.)
