Geneseo community members, along with some SUNY Geneseo faculty members, have organized another solidarity event. (Independent of the Sunday event.)
This event will take place on Tuesday, June 9th, at 2:00 P.M. at the corner of Main St. and Route 20A, probably in the Village Park. Event Information.
Here is a brief description from the organizers:
“We have spoken to Mayor Duff and Chief Osganian and have their support in this peaceful demonstration. There will be speakers, opportunities to register to vote and donate, and an 8 minute and 46-second demonstration laying on the ground. This will be a stationary demonstration. This will not include a march.”
There will be a march after the 2:00 PM event on Tuesday. (Event is scheduled to end at 3:30 PM.) This march has been called by SUNY Geneseo students, and is a third independent event.
I’ll send more about the march when we have more details.
Several GVCP members expressed an interest in having a GVCP event, but this is even better. Geneseo residents have organized this event, and GVCP is proud to support it!
Naturally, we expect people who attend to wear masks, and practice physical distancing. Bring water, and snacks if you’d like. Also, we’ll bring the GVCP banner, but you’ll need to make any signs that you wish to carry.
