Dear VFP Chapter 23 Members and Friends,

As many of you may know, for the second year in a row, the Veterans For Peace National Convention is being held virtually.  The convention kicked off on Thursday with a full schedule of yoga, training sessions, work shops, and plenary meeting. Friday was likewise a full schedule of workshops, an evening plenary, and a later poetry and song soiree.  Today, Saturday, August 14th centered around the VFP Business Meeting, which was open to members only.  Further events will take place later today, and tomorrow (Sunday) looks like a very busy schedule right up a closing film and panel discussion that will end around 8:00 P.M.

But the most exciting news came during the announcement of award recipients.  VFP has four individual awards and a Chapter of the Year Award.  It was a complete shock and surprise when Board of Directors member Joshua Shurle announced:

Veterans For Peace, Chapter 23, Rochester, New York
VFP Chapter of the Year

Thank you, and congratulations, one and all who have participated in different meetings, activities, and events that have helped to gain your VFP chapter the recognition that resulted in this award.

Please note that this was not a self nominated award.  In a private email with Joshua Shurle, he advised that five or six chapters were presented to the awards committee and after lengthy discussion, the awards committee voted Chapter 23 as Chapter of the Year.

Again, congratulations to everyone in Chapter 23 for helping to make this award possible.
